On Which Trains is the Deutschlandticket Valid?

At €63 per month, the Deutschlandticket gives you unlimited access to local and regional public transport across Germany. Buses, trams, U-Bahn lines, S-Bahn networks, and regional rail services (RB/RE) are all covered. However, the ticket does not extend to long-distance services — ICE, IC/EC trains, and private operators such as FlixTrain are explicitly excluded.

Where the Ticket Is Accepted:

  • Regional rail (RB/RE)
  • S-Bahn (commuter rail)
  • U-Bahn (subway)
  • Trams (Straßenbahn)
  • Local buses

Where It Cannot Be Used:

  • ICE, IC, and EC trains (long-distance intercity services)
  • FlixTrain and FlixBus (privately operated routes)
  • Heritage and tourist railways (museum trains, sightseeing buses)
  • First class compartments (on any type of train)
