Business Customer Discount
The statutory 5% business customer discount lets companies get the Deutschlandticket for €59.85 instead of €63/month – provided the employer contributes at least 25% of the price.
What is the Business Customer Discount?
The business customer discount is a statutory 5% discount on the Deutschlandticket for companies. It is triggered when the employer contributes at least 25% of the ticket price as a subsidy.
Conditions and Calculations
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Discount rate | 5% |
| Ticket price without discount | €63.00/month |
| Ticket price with discount | €59.85/month |
| Saving | €3.15/employee/month = €37.80/employee/year |
| Requirement | Employer contributes min. 25% (= €15.75 at €63) |
| Legal basis | §3 No. 15 EStG in conjunction with DTVG |
When is the Discount Triggered?
- ✅ 100% Employer Subsidy → discount automatically active
- ✅ Split Pay → discount active (employer pays min. 25% = €15.75)
- ❌ Salary Conversion → no discount needed (conversion amount = €63, maximises social security savings)
Note on Salary Conversion
With salary conversion, the full price of €63 is deliberately used as the conversion amount (not €59.85), as this maximises social security savings for both parties. The business customer discount does not apply in this model – but it isn't needed either.
