What is the Deutschlandticket as a Job Ticket?
The Deutschlandticket is valid nationwide on all buses, underground, S-Bahn, trams and regional trains – without zone or network boundaries. Employees can travel anywhere in Germany, whether commuting to work, on business trips or in their free time. It becomes a job ticket as soon as the employer contributes a subsidy – the ticket itself stays the same, but qualifies for tax benefits.
As an employer, you provide a tax-subsidised contribution under § 3 No. 15 EStG. With a contribution of at least 25%, you automatically qualify for the business customer discount: the ticket price drops from EUR 63.00/month to EUR 59.85/month.
